Last Friday (7th Dec 2012) I was photographing Buckcherry at Brighton’s Concorde2. I was speaking to another photographer recently who said they didn’t like shooting at Concorde2, but I really quite like it and I think it’s probably one of my favourite venues in Brighton to shoot at. I’d seen Buckcherry at Download Festival a few years ago but missed most of their set, so I was looking forward to seeing them properly. Guitarist Keith Nelson gave the camera a wave, and vocalist Josh Todd gradually got more and more undressed as the set went on..!

LIVE! – Soil + Fozzy
Last night, I was shooting a double headline gig at Brighton’s Concorde2 – Fozzy + Soil. I’d seen Fozzy before (also at Concorde2 actually, with Jettblack supporting) so was looking forward to their high energy show. Frontman Chris Jericho was great fun to photograph and was bounding about all over the stage! They put on an awesome show, and got the crowd raring to go for Soil who I was reeeally excited to shoot. I remember seeing Soil about 10 years ago at the Astoria in London. I was 17 and living in a flat in Islington, I happened to be walking down Charing Cross Rd and saw that Soil were playing, so I got a ticket from a tout and went in. Think I ended up crowdsurfing 4 or 5 times that gig and had a great time, but for some reason I never got round to seeing them again – til last night. Frontman Ryan McCombs was in the crowd for the whole of their last song ‘Halo’ and everyone was goin crazy 🙂

Vanessa contacted me a few weeks back about doing some creative shoots. Since the weather’s a bit unpredictable at the moment, I invited her to my home studio for a quick test shoot so we’d have chance to meet and have a chat. We took a few photos and I was really pleased with them, so I’ve edited a few 🙂

On Monday, I was back at The Brighton Centre to photograph 90s boyband 5ive on one of the first dates of their reunion tour. Now there’s only four of them but they put on a great show and everyone was dancing..! I had to shoot mostly from front of house but managed to get into the photo pit for two songs in the middle of their set. Check out some of the photos below..

POTRAIT: The Modern Antiquarian
Sometime earlier this year, late one Friday night, I was getting the bus home and met Jeremy. We talked a lot about music and stayed in touch ever since, sharing song recommendations and upcoming gigs. Anyway, I always thought it’d be cool to photograph him, so when he mentioned about collecting books I decided that’d be the perfect setting to shoot him at. So, when he had a day off work, we headed over to A & Y Cumming in Lewes and spent a couple of hours taking photos.
Funnily enough, rooting amongst the hundreds of old books we came across ‘Vitalogy’, a medical book that would’ve otherwise held no interest to either of us. But we both recognised the cover of the book straight away as it had been used as a cover for Pearl Jam’s third studio album. Of course, we had to include that book in a few shots!

Last week, I did a promo photoshoot for UK rock band Cage The Gods. We’d been planning this for a little while, and after I did a shoot at Bohemia with Kate Holdaway, we decided it’d be a good location for these new promo images.
LIVE! Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster
After shooting these guys’ promo images earlier this month, I was looking forward to seeing them play live at Concorde2, Brighton, on 30th October 2012. The venue was totally sold out! Support band Clowns were awesome, but everyone went crazy for 80s Matchbox. Frontman Guy McKnight stagedived right across the photo pit and it was total carnage 🙂

LIVE! Lianne La Havas @ Concorde2, Brighton 18th October 2012
Photographed the utterly spellbinding Lianne La Havas at Brighton’s Concorde2 last week. I didn’t know much of her stuff before the gig, but she put on an amazing performance – definitely see her if you get chance! She was chatting with the crowd and signing autographs, even spent some time chatting with fans after the gig 🙂

PROMO: Chungking
A couple of weeks ago, I was shooting promo images for Brighton indie-pop band Chungking. The band had some fairly specific ideas in mind for the main image of the three of them, but I also did some individual shots of vocalist Jessie. Here’s my favourite two images from the shoot!
